The Class of the 3's...
The class of the 3's welcomes children from 2.6 to 3.5 years old. For most of the children in this group, this is their second or third year in L?Atelier.
As children grow, they discover the pleasure and responsibility of becoming independent. Since their verbal language is more visible, their vocabulary increases and their voice becomes an important mean to communicate. The child becomes aware of the power of his words. At school the child finds many opportunities to weave these powerful words with other languages of expression, giving each one more strength.
The children encounter each other through their dialogues. Together they explore ideas and offer each other different opinions.
Usually in this class children's exploration of materials deepens. Children are intrigued by the material, since they become aware that they are able to transform it. The child?s knowledge about its properties supports his own process of transforming the material into a specific idea.
The child/material relationship strengthens, and more concrete creations are developed.
The different points of view are learning opportunities where the joy of sharing is as strong as the joy of welcoming others, giving value to the power of differences.
This dialogue supports ideas in process, and as children engage in conversations, they reinforce the meaning of being part of a group that is learning together.
